Thematic ideas are the threads that carry thoughts from one piece of art to the next; from one century to the next; from a poem to a painting. Understanding how themes relate to each other in works of art and especially in MOTET, in music, is one important way to understand how art works. There are themes all around us, both in and out of music. How are thematic ideas developed in writing, visual art, architecture, history?
